This article discusses some characteristics of the philosophical reading of the literary work ofRafael Gutiérrez Girardot. These include: the need to move beyond the formal approach to the text; the recognition of a tradition retaken from Friedrich Schlegel and Friedrich Nietzsche; the importance of starting out from the written text and of thinking of the functions of the reader and the derivations of the philosophical reading in the context of the end of philosophy. Finally, as colophon, the article discusses possible problems and strengths of the contemporary reception of the philosophical reading of Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot.
