Abstract

AGUDELO, Ana María  and  GUZMAN, Diana Paola. The Translation of Detective Stories in Two Colombian Magazines of the First Half of the Twentieth Century: Chanchito and Crónica. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.2, pp.51-77. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v19n2.63368.

The publication of detective stories in Crónica and Chanchito, two magazines with different audiences and objectives, makes evident the dynamics of transfer, reproduction, and renewal of the literary system Colombia. The presence of this genre indicates the existence of a reader inclined to read for leisure and entertainment. Likewise, the manner in which translators transform the content translated reveals the role of the translator as a cultural agent. The article also discusses the aesthetic renewal of the repertoire that appeared in periodicals and the establishment of an interrelation among distant cultures.

Keywords : translation; detective story; cultural transfer; reader; entertainment.
