VENTURINI, Santiago. The Invention of A Catalogue. Translation Policies in New Literary Presses in Argentina. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.2, pp.183-201. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v19n2.63372.

The objective of this article is to discuss the scope of the notion of "translation policies" in a series of relatively new literary publishing houses in Argentina that make translation a central operation for the design of their catalogues (Bajo la Luna, Gog y Magog, Fiordo, Dedalus, and Mardulce, among others). If translation policies can be construed as the result of planning and of a series of decisions -explicit or implicit- regarding what is translated, the article analyzes the ways in which these policies are expressed in the catalogues, showing how the latter are not just the result of the specific project of each publishing house. Certain observable regularities make it possible to conclude that any translation policies are related to the position occupied by a publishing house in the national space ofbooks, as well as to a global hierarchy of translated languages that interact in the transnational space of books.
