CHING-YU, Lin. Criticism and Poetics in the Essays of Ángel Crespo. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.1, pp.13-33. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v21n1.74875.
Ángel Crespo's essays involve a practice of reading and rereading, as a result of his vast intellectual background. The article focuses on Crespo's critical thought, which results in the expression of his own creativity through poetry. The Spanish essayist reviews the literary tradition from a philological perspective, taking pleasure in the classics in order to attain a universal horizon, while, at the same time, dignifying the different languages and expressing a desire to preserve knowledge. His criticism reveals a position that goes beyond the contradiction inherent to his ideas and his poetry. According to the author, artistic experiences are a poetic practice that involves different materials, spaces and senses.
