Resumen

HERRERA PARDO, Hugo  y  SMITH, Douglas Kristopher. Politics of Value. Reviews and Translation in the Neoliberal Academy. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.2, pp.105-129. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v21n2.78645.

This article seeks to problematize two discursive forms historically conceived as "derivational" or "secondary"-reseña (or review) and translation-within the context of the neoliberalization of universities. The objective is to reflect on the issues regarding the decreasing, or utter lack of, value placed on these forms within the strict management of knowledge prevailing in contemporary universities. To this effect, we first detail the emergence of the regime governing intellectual property, specifically in regard to "derivational" forms, and then go on to discuss different positions in the humanities that challenge the original/derivative hierarchy. Finally, we return to the current issue of reseña by taking up the specific case of Peruvian literary critic Antonio Cornejo Polar, whose reviews constituted, from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, a discursive space for reflecting on and rethinking the field in which his intellectual work was inscribed.

Palabras clave : review; translation; Antonio Cornejo Polar; neoliberal university.
