CORDOBA, Jesús Ricardo. Francisco Álvarez de Velasco y Zorrilla: From European Literary Tradition to Spanish American Reality. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.241-269. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v22n2.86093.
This paper examines the adaptation of European literary models in colonial Hispanic America from the specific case of Francisco Álvarez de Velasco y Zorrilla, a poet of Nueva Granada, and his poem "Vuelve a su quinta Anfriso solo, y viudo", which belongs to eglogical and pastoral tradition. The analysis aims to glimpse the connections between European formal literary parameters and their inevitable transformation, given the gradual filtration of contextual elements from the American reality. Therefore leading to provide a vision of the colonial period as a crossroads of diverse cultural inheritances and traditions that seek to adapt to an American environment in constant transformation.
