MOREYRA CARVALHO, Mayra. An Essay in Exile: Pedro Salinas and the and Cantar de Mio Cid. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.1, pp.389-405.  Epub Apr 06, 2021. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v23n1.87884.

The article examines the essay "El Cantar del Mío Cid: poema de la honra", by Pedro Salinas, published in Revista Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1945. Te essay on the medieval Castilian verses articulates the reflection of the poet on his condition as an exiled person and his conception of literary tradition. We try to comprehend why Salinas decides to revisit the Cantar during his exile, the way he relates himself both as a poet and as a man to these verses and the implications of choosing to write an essay a hybrid and free genre.

Keywords : Cantar de Mío Cid; essay; 1939 Spanish Republican Exile; Pedro Salinas.
