Abstract

GUIJARRO ARRIBAS, Delia. Domination Relations in Children's and Youth Literature: lhe Position of Latin American Children's Literature in the Transnational Subfield. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp.247-263.  Epub July 21, 2021. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v23n2.94896.

This note analyzes the position of children's and youth literature in Latin America at the international level. On the one hand, the objective is to show the evolution of the position of the Latin American children's literature thanks to the development and diversity of the production of children's and youth books in Latin America, particularly in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil. On the other hand, we aim to explain why despite everything, its position continues to be peripheral in terms of the main international bodies for the consecration of this type of literature (IBBY, Bologna Children's Book Fair, Munich's International Youth Library). Thus, it is intended to highlight from the point of view of the sociology of literature the domination relations (between languages and nations) that govern children's and youth literature.

Keywords : Latin America; domination; international; Children's and youth literature; symbolic capital; transnational subfield.
