LUNA PLASCENCIA, Noé René  e  LOZANO UVARIO, Katia Magdalena. Identification of Relationships by Proximity: The Case of the Footwear and Design Industry in Guadalajara from 1999 to 2020. Territ. [online]. 2024, n.51spe, e8.  Epub 06-Fev-2024. ISSN 0123-8418.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/territorios/a.12609.

Since the 1990s, the footwear industry has been affected by the economic opening processes associated with the North American Free Trade Agreement (nafta), and later by the economic crises of 1997, 2008, and the Covid-19 pandemic. In all cases, it was able to recover given its roots considering its location in the municipality of Guadalajara since colonial times, the know-how that remains in the labor market, and the productive networks in its value chain. In the latter, agglomerations of footwear and design companies are identified, and their flows can be transmitted as denser, faster, and cheaper means of communication. The benefits can be external economies of scale and greater competitiveness that can stop the decline of the footwear industry.

Palavras-chave : Agglomeration; proximity; relationships.
