Abstract

MOSSO, Emilia. Public Housing Policies in Argentina. An Approach to the Experience of the Mi Pieza Program (2021-2023). Territ. [online]. 2025, n.52spe, a14533.  Epub Aug 12, 2025. ISSN 0123-8418.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/territorios/a.14533.

In the global context of recent housing policy, a trend is observed towards implementing fi-nancialization policies for housing and urban space. However, housing alternatives have also been implemented aimed at impoverished sectors that, although they fall within neoliberal parameters, contribute to a more equitable development of the populations. This work explores the housing policy of the Mi Pieza Program in Argentina, focused on women and their family environment in popular neighborhoods. Variables such as national scope, immediate response, constructive plurality, reduction of household overcrowding, self-construction modality, economic reactivation, and gender autonomy are considered. It is reflected in contrast to policies focused on the commercialization of land and housing. However, the program does not reverse the conditions of impoverishment, it contributes to the housing improvement of families and offers an opportunity to mitigate social-gender gaps.

Keywords : Housing policy; popular neighborhoods; women; financing; subsidies.
