In this article, we analyse the logics through which extractive processes of accumulation are involved in the production of urban territories, investigating the link between Bahía Blanca (an intermediate city in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and a recently privatised, foreignised and expanded petrochemical pole between 1995 and 2002. Our working hypothesis is that, during the great neoliberal transformation, the coloniality of territorial production was deepened through a pattern of power that operated on a global-local scale, instituting an extractive ordering through the capitalist appropriation of natural and urban commons, and the production of spatial injustices associated with the costs of progress.
