The following literature review attempts to answer the question of how to use the Cabri-Geometrie software effectively for the learning of geometric concepts. It is important to consider this question in order to allow the design of pedagogical practices which effectively support this learning. In the present literature review I summarize research reports, classroom experiences and theoretical documents that support the design of pedagogical practices based on giving the students problems to generate different solving strategies and the use of the program as a natural resource for doing so. This literature also supports collaborative discussion of strategies as an effective environment for the learning of mathematical concepts. It seems that many of the difficulties students have in learning mathematical concepts, particularly in the learning of the concept of area, may be overcome if we use these practices, consistent with constructivist principles.
