Abstract

ABELLO, Ignacio. The Sixties: From Being or not Being to Being and not Being. rev.estud.soc. [online]. 2009, n.33, pp.61-69. ISSN 0123-885X.

The 1960s have become the obligatory reference point to understand both general and particular social phenomenon. Since this period, and as a result of its new social practices (in the sense that there were no theories to explain them), new concepts and ways of speaking have arisen that, coming out of the acts and struggles of those years, are currently used as analytical tools as well as elements of action in processes of struggle and transformation. What role did the concept of freedom particular to existentialism play? Why was Marxism unable to respond to particular claims, such as the inclusive recognition of difference? And how did a new form of understanding the subject and relations of power as resistance, which explain these social practices, arise? These are the topics that this article addresses.

Keywords : Difference; Diversity; Freedom; Social Practice; Resistance.
