Abstract

GONZALEZ-ARANGO, Isabel Cristina; VILLAMIZAR-GELVES, Adriana Marcela; CHOCONTA-PIRAQUIVE, Alexandra  and  QUICENO-TORO, Natalia. Textile Pedagogies Concerning the Armed Conflict in Colombia: Activism, Trajectories and Transmission of Knowledge from the Experience of Four Women’s Collectives in Quibdó, Bojayá, Sonsón and María La Baja. rev.estud.soc. [online]. 2022, n.79, pp.126-144.  Epub Jan 31, 2022. ISSN 0123-885X.  https://doi.org/10.7440/res79.2022.08.

This article discusses the textile pedagogies incorporated in four canvases made by groups of weavers, seamstresses, embroiderers and/or craftswomen who are victims of the Colombian armed conflict in the municipalities of Quibdó and Bojayá (Chocó), Sonsón (Antioquia) and the village of Mampuján in María La Baja (Bolívar). We describe the processes involved in their trajectories of creation, circulation, and appropriation, focusing on the experiences and knowledge that these pieces incorporate and teach through their social trajectories. We argue that the articulation between artisan collectives, testimonial textiles, and their processes of circulation and appropriation result in textile pedagogies concerning the memories of the armed conflict, women’s experiences, and their artisanal knowledge.

Keywords : Colombia; testimonial textiles; textile activism; textile pedagogies; victims of the armed conflict; women artisans.
