The advances in histotechnology over the years have enabled the development of different diagnostic techniques in the pathology practice. These techniques include frozen biopsy; however, in the clinical field use of this diagnostic tool generally unknown. A brief review of their limitations are presented, along with their possible indications, as well as cases in which frozen biopsy provides important information to the clinician to guide therapeutic changes. Finally, emphasis is placed on the considerations to take into account in frozen skin biopsy, and the clinical conditions in which it is useful. © 2013 Instituto Nacional de Cancerología.
