CADENA, Enrique y REYES, Carmen Amelia de los. SPECT/CT optimises the ROLL technique in recurrent thyroid cancer. rev.colomb.cancerol. [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.2, pp.130-134. ISSN 0123-9015. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rccan.2016.12.002.
Differentiated thyroid cancer is an increasingly diagnosed disease. One of the contributing factors is the routine use of high-resolution imaging techniques to assess patients with head and neck symptoms. Serum thyroglobulin monitoring and neck ultrasound are the cornerstone of early detection of recurrent disease after surgery and radioiodine remnant ablation. Resection of non-palpable small tumour foci in previously operated sites is difficult. In recent years, the use of a radioguided technique for locating lesions (ROLL) has shown to be useful for optimising recurrent thyroid cancer surgery. SPECT/CT has also been added to refine the anatomical location of the radio-marked tumour foci.
