Abstract

PARAMO, MARÍA DE LOS ÁNGELES. MEANINGS OF ADOLESCENCE AND PSYCHOTHERAPY: LEXICOMETRICAL ANALYSIS OF GROUP DISCUSSIONS. Act.Colom.Psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.13, n.2, pp.161-174. ISSN 0123-9155.

The main objectives of this study were: a) to analyze the meanings of adolescence, psychotherapy and related themes, trough focal groups with Argentinean adolescents (15-20 years old, both genders), and their close relations (parents, teachers, and psychotherapists); b) to carry out a lexicometrical analysis of discursive textual data obtained from the discussion groups. The methodology was of quantitative nature, based on the lexicometrical analysis. The sample was intentional, no probabilistic. Results were discussed on the basis of the general topic of adolescence, psychotherapy and related aspects (estimations and opinions about adolescence, family and peer relationships; educational, health and social systems; difficulties or problems, protective factors and coping strategies.
