Abstract
LOPEZ SARMIENTO, Danilo; PEDRAZA, Luis F and HERNANDEZ, Cesar. MPLS and ATM as backbone technologies to carry videoconferencing. Tecnura [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.33, pp.53-71. ISSN 0123-921X.
This article presents the results obtained by modeling the performance of a core IP/ATM network compared to a CRLDP/IP/MPLS network when carrying delay sensitive traffic (videoconferencing) with minimum resource reservation guarantees and optimal interaction between user and applications. In order conduct the experiments, OPNET-modeler simulation software (educational version) was used, which encouraged alternative implementation features that help decide which of the two technologies represents a suitable solution for current networking problems, where large volumes of information need to be transmitted and the QoS offered to average users is pretty poor.
