Abstract

Objective:

To identify the prevalence of high-risk HPV in women and men who have sex with HIV-positive men, during the period between 2020 and 2023.

Methods:

Retrospective descriptive observational study of patients who attended the VID Clinical Laboratory. All patients who came for the purpose of HPV testing and who met the criteria for sample collection were included.

Results:

The total number of patients included in the study was 2,379 women and 2,078 MSM-HIV (+).HR-HPV was identified in 586 women and 1,652 MSM-HIV (+).The frequency of high-risk genotypes identified was 0.36% in women and 2.52% in MSM HIV (+). The most prevalent HPV genotypes in both groups were: 16,52, 58 and 68.

Conclusions:

The prevalence of HR-HPV in women was 26.4 % and in men who have sex with men 79.5 %, most of the high-risk genotypes present in women were in the age range between 30-39 years, while in HIV (+) MSM they were in the range of less than 30 years.
