Cervical adenopathy due to Burkholderia pseudomallei: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges in a Case of Pediatric Melioidosis. Infect. [online]. 2025, vol.29, n.2, pp.128-131. Epub 13-Jun-2025. Melioidosis is an emerging infectious disease caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei in tropical countries. Its incidence is underestimated in non-endemic countries; however, it is estimated to be approximately 165,000 cases worldwide, of which 89,000 are associated with high mortality. Clinically, it can go unnoticed by mimicking common conditions such as pneumonia; therefore, its identification and diagnosis are complex. Melioidosis requires prolonged therapeutic management with specific intravenous and oral antibiotic therapies to prevent relapse. We present the case of a patient with cervical adenitis associated with melioidosis, its diagnostic approach and literature review.
