Zoonosis are communicable diseases between animal and human beings. This document reviews social, economic and cultural determinants on holding and usufruct of domestic animals, and their relation with ruralization process of cities because of the people migration from country-side to cities and rural areas involved by cities growing, as a common fact in Mexico and Latin-American countries.

All this, bearing in mind the negative effects of this process migration on animal health and consequently on human health, that makes zoonosis becomes a Public Health problem. There is a proposal to be discussed by public health discipline in order to reach a global scope on zoonosis as a public health problem through the social view incorporation, all this as a transcendental alternative solution to be taken in account by responsible authorities on planeation and organization in public health services.

Keywords : Zoonosis; social determinants; migration; animal health; health services; and veterinary public health.
