It is important to debate, in a comprehensive way, the topic of social security. This gains currency thanks to new reform proposals that are developed as a consequence of the adjustments agreed to between the high government and the International Monetary Fund. The present article explores those possibilities, analyzing the main proposals and tendencies of social security reform that happen in the world, but with more specificity, in Latin America . It analyzes some alternatives in the case of pensions (previsional systems) and others in health ("health sector reform"). Beginning, in the international order, with the great mega-tendency of the end the XX Century: globalization, conditioning and determinant of the different reform processes and of the social security crisis, important axis of debate of the reforms in health and pensions. Some tendencies in pensions and in social security are identified in accordance with recent international studies.
