GIRALDO-TRUJILLO, José C.; MARTINEZ, José W.  e  GRANADA-ECHEVERRY, Patricia. Using the Framingham scale to detect cardiovascular risk in employees at the Technological University of Pereira, 2008. Rev. salud pública [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.4, pp.633-643. ISSN 0124-0064.

Objective Determining Technological University of Pereira employees' cardiovascular risk from Framingham tables. Methodology The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), a survey of cardiovascular risk, blood, anthropometric and physiological tests were all applied to 138 randomly selected men and women who were employed by the Technological University of Pereira. Results The greatest morbidity reported was obesity (28.3 %) followed by AHT (11.6 %); 19.6 % referred to smoking and 52.9 % to consuming alcohol in quite large amounts at the moment of this study. The risk was lower with the Framingham-Grundy algorithm compared to the Framingham-Wilson one in both men and women. Age, cholesterol and blood pressure were the variables most influencing risk values. Conclusion Most of the studied population presented low to moderate risk levels. In spite of this, campaigns should be advanced involving this population to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Palavras-chave : Motor activity; risk factor; hypercholesterolemia; hypertriglyceridemia; high blood pressure.
