Abstract

Objetive
Review the state of art of the concept therapeutic itineray origin, definition, characteristics, theories, notions, areas of activity, and relationships with other fields.
Methods
A scoping review in databases was made (PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, Google Scholar, and Archive of Universidad Nacional de Colombia).
Results
Seven documents were included: 54% of them were written in Brazil, 43% in Portugal, and only 23% in Colombia. In the last four years the academic production has increased (39%). The therapeutic itineraries are related with concepts of care, bureaucratic itineraries, and "vital trajectories" (or care trajectories). It was studied in many populations, specially in Latin America.
Conclusions
The research about therapeutic itineraries is relevant to plan comprehensive health systems (according with the situation of target users, people, and communities).
