Abstract

REDONDO PACHECO, Jesús; RANGEL NORIEGA, Kelly Johana  and  LUZARDO BRICENO, Marianela. Differences in Pro-Social Behavior Among Colombian Teenagers. Psicogente [online]. 2015, vol.18, n.34, pp.311-319. ISSN 0124-0137.  https://doi.org/10.17081/psico.18.34.507.

This paper focuses on the analysis of pro-social behavior in high school students from Pasto and Bucaramanga (Colombia). 2.694 students between 11 and 17 years old (1.878 from Pasto and 816 from Bucaramanga) were sampled and a Pro-social Behavior Scale of Teenage Inventory of Social Skills (TISS) was administered. As a result, this research shows teenagers from Pasto showed higher levels of pro-social behavior than those from Bucaramanga. Socio-environmental variables, such as culture, sex, age or nationality influence students' pro-social behavior development and maintenance.

Keywords : Pro-social behavior; Adolescence; Culture; Gender.
