This article describes the study of reliability and validity of the test Scale Observation of Cognitive Strategies and Meta (EOECM), designed by Saiz, Flores and Roman (2010), in order to evaluate four dimensions: Attention, language (receptive and expressive), planning and metacognitive processes. For purposes of this research they were selected only attention and metacognitive processes. For validation, it was considered the observation and analysis of the behaviors given in performing a task before, during and after, in a convenience sample of 36 children of 4-5 years of preschool city of Santa Marta. The main results of the analysis of content by expert judges, show the validity and relevance of the formal aspects of EOECM; also, the reliability data obtained, indicate the existence of a reasonably high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.878
