Burden in caregivers of Alzheimer's disease patients, and its relation with their incomes. Psicogente [online]. 2016, vol.19, n.36, pp.240-251. Burden is the psychological result of emotional, physical and social combinations that come from looking after a sick person, especially if it's Alzheimer's. Wage income can affect overload, taking care of a patient generates expenses that the family must endure. This study correlates overhead and salary income in a convenience sample of 100 caregivers from Bucaramanga, using the Zarit Burden Interview (Martin et al., 1996) and Sociodemographic Data Sheet (Cerquera et al., 2012). The results show that most caregivers earn more than the Colombian minimum wage and are overloaded, not establishing correlations, indicating that wage income is not determining for overload.
