Abstract

BAEZ MESA, Dacmar Andrea. The Minor in the Consumer Relationship in Colombia: A Review of the Classification of Vulnerable Consumers. Estud. Socio-Juríd [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.2, e05.  Epub Oct 18, 2023. ISSN 0124-0579.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/sociojuridicos/a.13006.

Cultural changes and market dynamics have turned consumption into an important element of modern societies involving children and adolescents as consumer subjects, in the category of buyers, purchase influencers or end users, which links them in the relationship of consumption. However, despite being active subjects in this relationship, the average consumer classification category currently established in the Colombian legal system is not sufficient or comparable when it is a minor who participates in the consumer relationship. Children belong to the category of subjects of special protection, but there are aspects of Colombian law that show that effective protection of their rights is not being achieved; therefore, it is important to review the classification of vulnerable consumers adopted by the legal system for the serious and concrete realization of their rights.

Keywords : Consumer law; consumption relationship; minor; vulnerable consumers.
