The term "maquiaveliano (NA)" has long been in common use, despite the fact that it does not appear in the Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE) and as such has not been "authorized" by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española (RAE). I would like to describe, by way of this reflection, a proposal I have sent to the rae, that the possibility of including the aforementioned word in the dle be taken into consideration, and that the existing related words "maquiavélico", "maquiavelismo" and "maquiavelista" be amended accordingly.
