Abstract The article analyzes the formation process of the Colombian Constitution of 1991 in light of the debates surrounding the concept of political myth. In order to do so it, first, provides a summary of the positions regarding the question of myth and how it has been studied from a political point of view. Secondly, the article discusses the case of the genesis of the Colombian Constitution of 1991 in order to respond to the question whether mythical and political narratives were involved in its construction, and to what extent the constitution itself was a product of those narratives.
