Abstract

PEREIRA, Andrés. The Nexus between Migration, Security and Human Rights in Argentine Migration Policy (1990-2015). Desafíos [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.1, pp.273-309. ISSN 0124-4035.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/desafios/a.6031.

One of the most relevant changes in the way international migration and in particular border immigration is understood and addressed in the context of migration policies in Argentina is the adoption of humanitarian discourses, practices and policies by which migrants are re-constructed as a security-related issue. Subjects considered as victims or vulnerable that need to be protected and their human rights guaranteed increasingly become common images that coexist with understanding migration as a threat or security risk. This article seeks to understand the nexus between migration, security and human rights that has developed in the field of migration policies in Argentina in the period from 7990 to 2075 through the analysis of the discourses and practices of relevant actors.

Keywords : Migration; security; Human Rights; Argentina; migration policy.
