Abstract

MASSAL, Julie. Emotions and High Risk Mobilization in a Post-Peace Agreement Context: A Reflection on the Colombian Case. Desafíos [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.2, pp.133-167. ISSN 0124-4035.  https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/desafios/a.7306.

The article proposes a reflection regarding two main concepts, 'high-risk activism and 'emotions', in order to study the relevance of the latter in social mobilization and particularly in high risk activism. With the Colombian case as a starting point, it provides a new definition of the notion of risk, comparing it to its traditional uses in the literature. Subsequently, it focuses on case studies on the relation between high risk and emotions, in order to understand which ones emerge or are expressed in a risky environment. The Colombian case serves as evidence for the difficulty of defining risk, which is not always the result of radical action, thus deviating from the traditional concept.

Keywords : Activism; collective action; risk; emotion; peace; Colombia.
