Environmental culture in the university environment is a key factor in promoting sustainable practices and greater ecological awareness among future professionals. In this context, this article analyzes how environmental culture manifests itself in business students and what variables influence its development.
Objective:
To assess the environmental culture of university business students.
Methodology:
It is a quantitative, explanatory research design utilizing confirmatory factor analysis to develop the VARICA Model, based on a sample of 742 business students.
Key findings:
The following hypotheses were validated: (i) environmental knowledge favors environmental culture, (ii) environmental behavior explains environmental culture and (iii) social responsibility, which indicate that these variables have a statistical significance that corroborates the realization of promotes environmental behaviors and an increase in environmental culture.
Conclusions:
This research is unique because the study subjects are from the largest business school in Latin America, which has 18,000 students.
