Resumen
RIAL, Anabel. New records of aquatic plants from the Guayana region in Colombia, with notes on floating islands in the Guaviare River, Guainía. Biota colombiana [online]. 2018, vol.19, suppl.1, pp.191-204. ISSN 0124-5376. https://doi.org/10.21068/c2018.v19s1a13.
Novel distributional data for 17 species of aquatic plants are presented, based on observations in the Guyana Shield of Colombia. The habitats of the species are described in 6 locations of Estrella Fluvial de Inírida: sandy savannas, granitic outcrops (lajas) of the Inírida and Atabapo, and floodplains of the Guaviare. Five of these species form floating islands in the Guaviare River. The term of floating islands is defined and some relevant ecological aspects of the mixed (white, clear, black) water wetlands of the departments of Guainía and Vichada are described.
