Abstract

We analyzed 3371 dung beetle specimens from the Arauca department in the Orinoco region of Colombia stored at the Colección Entomológica de la Orinoquia (CEO). We recorded 20 genera, 34 species, and 16 morphospecies of dung beetles. This data set reports 30.6% of the records available for this taxonomic group in the Colombian Orinoquia (11025 specimens) in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), reporting the increase in the altitudinal range of the Genieridium bordoni (Martínez, 1992) and Dichotomius costaricensis (Luederwalt, 1935). Furthermore, it extends the distribution range for 34 species, contributing to the current knowledge of the geographic distributions of Scarabaeidae in Colombia.
