Resumen

ESPINOZA H, Andy. Circular economy: an approach to its origin, evolution and importance as a model of sustainable development. Rev.econ.inst. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.49, pp.109-134.  Epub 02-Nov-2023. ISSN 0124-5996.  https://doi.org/10.18601/01245996.v25n49.06.

Although the origins of the Circular Economy (CE) are formally visualized in various disciplines and schools of thought in evolution since the 1970s, the results show that environmental economics and Industrial ecology were decisive in promoting its development. It is estimated that the application of the CE would positively impact global GDP by 1.1%, promoting the creation of jobs, a greater resilience of the economies and contributing to the goals outlined in the 2030 agenda. The purpose of this research is to improve the understanding of the background and growing importance of (CE) as a model of sustainable development.
