Abstract

GAMLATH, Isha. RITUAL, DIVINATION AND DIVINE INSPIRATION. discus.filos [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.12, pp.141-149. ISSN 0124-6127.

The intention of this paper is to explore divine inspiration in relation to ritual through which the act of divination is perfected. An examination of the character of ritual in cult followed by Iamblichus' defence of divination in On the Mysteries demonstrates the extent to which ritual and divination reflect levels of divine inspiration and the possibility of the application of these levels for the recovery of the soul's divine identity

Keywords : Ritual; divination; cult; soul; Iamblichus.
