Abstract

DAVILA, Johnny Antonio. Some considerations on the feeling of respect for the moral law. discus.filos [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.18, pp.145-154. ISSN 0124-6127.

This paper focuses exclusivily on the claim about the feeling of respect for the moral law, which Kant sets out in chapter three of The Analytic of Pure Practical Reason (Critique of Practical Reason). There he helds the following theses: i) the feeling of respect, as a priori feeling, is a logical requirement of the argumentation, in order to mantain the coherence of the kantian system and to make freedom possible, ii) the feeling of respect fulfills both a causal function and a distinctive function, and, iii) Kant's moral theory asserts the existence of two a priori feelings: the feeling of respect for the moral law and the feeling of pain.

Keywords : Moral action; a priori; motiv; ground of determination; feeling; will.
