Abstract

GARCIA DUQUE, Carlos Emilio. Rationality and the non violent solution of conflicts: Elements for a criticism of moral relativism. discus.filos [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.25, pp.167-183. ISSN 0124-6127.

In this paper I discuss the shortcomings of the relativist views in epistemology and in moral philosophy, as well as their inability to yield rational solutions to conflicts like the one Colombian society has suffered during the last fifty years. Some reasons to favor the non-violent solution of conflicts are given by means of permanent negotiation and rational and based in arguments discussion, as it should be in a pluralist and civilized society.

Keywords : Rationality; moral relativism; epistemological relativism; Non-violent solution to conflicts; critical rationalism.
