Abstract
CASTILLO MERLO, Mariana. Beyond the borders of art: the role of mimetic learning in deliberation. discus.filos [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.25, pp.185-203. ISSN 0124-6127.
The aim of this paper is to show how the mimetic learning derived from the tragic experience can become, in the framework of Aristotelian philosophy, a prerequisite exercise for political deliberation. The link between the sphere of prâxis and the sphere of poiesis is not an explicit one in the Aristotelian corpus and his silence regarding this articulation is problematic. However, I suggest that it is possible to find arguments for this interpretation, paying particular attention to the relevance of prâxis in Poetics. From this point of view, the mimetic action separates itself from the particular poiesis from which it was originated and takes place at the center of Aristotle's political concern, assuming an important role in the education for active citizenship.
