This article examines how Gadamer’s considerations on dialogue can contribute to an understanding of the problem of inter-human understanding that is posed to societies in which their citizens are inclined to ignore the other’s point of view. It is admitted that the dialogue experience not only enables the transformation and conformation of the interlocutors, but also has validity within the democracies where citizens protect the real right of the others’ opinion and accept the validity of other points of view, as possible answers that can complement the proposed solutions to the issues of community life. In order to make this assertion understandable, it is fi rst shown why the sense of dialogue deserves attention in the current democratic areas, to briefl y develop the concept of transformation and fusion of the horizon from which we intend to approach the problem.
