Abstract

MORALES-CAMPOS, Arturo. Biosemiosis: from perception to cognition. discus.filos [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.41, pp.101-121.  Epub Aug 14, 2023. ISSN 0124-6127.  https://doi.org/10.17151/difil.2022.23.41.6.

Perception could be understood as one of the central and initial factors within semiosic processes. This scheme requires a trans-interdisciplinary vision. We will try, from a bio-semiotics position, to propose one of the central concepts of his new theory: ‘biosemiosis’. For that purpose, we will take some experiments from neurosciences. We belong to a time in which the Universe is considered as an enormous network of interrelations; in this sense, the previous link should not be strange if we consider the human being determined by two main spheres: biological and cultural. Cooperation between different fields of knowledge will allow a better understanding of these networks.

Keywords : Perception; biosemiotics; biosemiosis; semiosis; cognitive processes.
