Abstract

DUQUE, Paula Andrea. Factors related to the applicability of the Nursing Process in a health institution of high complexity in Medellin, Colombia. Univ. Salud [online]. 2014, vol.16, n.1, pp.91-102. ISSN 0124-7107.

Objective: To describe the factors which help or hinder the implementation of the NCP by nursing professionals in a health facility during 2012. Materials and methods: Descriptive study in which analysis techniques of mixed type were used through instruments to collect socio- demographic, labor and opinion variables about NCP. The population consisted of 43 nurses working in the health care area of the institution. The statistical analysis was performed with Microsoft Excel. Results: It was evident that the highest percentage of nurses in terms of age is between 20 and 40 years, females dominated with a 77%, experience time is between 0 and 10 years with a 67%, the time worked in the institution is 83% less than a year and 5 years, and the method of recruitment, in the highest percentage, is outsourced. The factors that hinder the implementation of the NCP were the time and work overload, and the factors that enable its application were the interest in providing comprehensive care and the system platform for patient care. Conclusions: The NCP is vital to all nurses of the institution; however, work overload and the multiple tasks assigned to the professionals overshadow the work discipline, but there is a desire to provide quality care.
