The purpose of this document is to collect and analyze the impact and progress of treaties signed between Colombia and Venezuela since the separation of the Nueva Granada to date and their relationship in the border zone Norte de Santander-Tachira. During this period, have signed a number of treaties that have been for the purpose zoom in and improve bilateral relations between the two countries; however, trade relations began to appreciate significantly over 60 years, despite more than 130 years of common history between the two nations. The results suggest that when it has given priority to the purely political affairs of each country, centralism have affected the border under development, and has been recognized recently the dynamics of the population living there.
