The "marriage" between State and Nation touches its end to the doors of the new millennium. On planetary scale circulate the signs of a time that definitively institutes other values: diverse processes of economic and cultural globalization affect the foundations of those social contracts that do not resist the attacks of the diversity. Thus, it enters on crisis, the contract of gifts and against-gifts in which the State repaid whit Social Security what their citizens had deposited to it: national identity. On the light of these transformations, the analysis on the sovereignties and waste territories in Colombia would not have to let recognize the historical incapacity of the Colombian State to make sure that double dominion that confers legitimacy to it: the monopoly of the physical and symbolic violence that regulates the social order. The first case can be illustrated by the armed groups, margin of the law. The second, the increasing lack of credibility, that weighs on the state institution. In both cases, that ambiguous space (physical and symbolic) occupied by the citizens leans in some social memory frames that update concrete episodes of the Colombian history, in which the difference of the other tends to continue being devoured and/or being thrown up instead of integrated.
