This article shows original research obtained from the implementation of phase 1 (situation analysis) of the population of the municipality of Sincelejo knowledge with respect to the rights, duties, and routes of protection provide for in the new Consumer Statute (Law 1480 of 2011). The results that are shown in this article, emerged as responses from the following research prob lem: What is the degree of knowledge of the population of the municipality of Sincelejo regarding their rights and responsibilities as consumers, and the authorities administrative and judicial procedures of protection, the period of validate of the new Statute of the Consumer?
