This reflective paper provides evidence that the economic development in Colombia is insufficient because there are no sustainable institutions, reflecting the social structure because of the a weak judicial State and failures in cities’ organizations and designations of rural zones. Armed groups in Colombia have intensified and perpetuated conflict in urban zones. This reflection is based on the relationship among State institutions and the economic development in Colombia.
