The dynamics of violence in Colombia have left innumerable effects and millions of victims who in a resilient way have continued with their existence; But how have they managed to do it in the midst of the indifference of urban populations that were alien as well as institutions that were absent as support? The objective of this article is to analyze the relationship between mental health, social support and armed conflict, from a rights perspective; understanding mental health as a human right. The research that gave rise to this text, incorporated through the qualitative ethnographic method. The field work was developed in the San Francisco village belonging to the municipality of Ovejas, Montes de María subregion in the department of Sucre, Colombia. Six individual in-depth interviews and three group interviews were conducted, organized and processed with N-vivo. In the results, it was found that the public question of mental health as a human right takes hold for a subregion that has historically been affected by poverty, political corruption and violence; concluding that it is necessary for public policy to be directed directly to the daily spaces of the victims of the armed conflict outside of the institutionalized treatment settings, taking advantage of the knowledge and social support strategies that the victims have built in their social fabric thanks to a historical tradition of organization and resistance.
