Abstract

LOPEZ SANTAMARIA, Ramsés. Judges and slaves: a litigious history of slaves’ access to the peculio in Colombia (18th-19th centuries). Justicia [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.44, pp.157-170.  Epub Dec 30, 2023. ISSN 0124-7441.  https://doi.org/10.17081/just.28.44.6933.

The scenario within which the existence of the peculio develops, as an element also related to the contradictions and tensions inherent to the implementation of the institution of slavery in Colombian institutional history, is deeply particular. Therefore, a documentary analysis of the primary references found in the Central Historical Archive of Cauca and the General Archive of the Nation related to slave litigation over access to their private property.
