CONCHA-SALDIAS, Claudia; MICHELETTI, Stefano; RASSE-FIGUEROA, Alejandra e OLIVARES-LARRAIN, Rodrigo. Post-earthquake reconstruction in the Maule's rurality. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2015, vol.25, n.1, pp.89-98. ISSN 0124-7913. https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v1n25.40210.
The effects of the earthquake of February 27, 2010 that struck central Chile were felt most strongly in rural areas than in urban areas, especially in the region of Maule. Despite the major impact and socio-territorial specificities, in rural communes the same policy and reconstruction programs in urban communes, which were designed as standard for the whole country were applied. This article is a reflection on the reconstruction model applied in the rural areas and its impact on the region of Maule, based on a review of secondary sources (surveys and official statistics on post-earthquake) and conducting interviews and involudrados focus to various actors groups. The results warn that the structural disadvantages that rural communities have a state policy of reconstruction that broke away from the territorial post-disaster intervention adds, leaving the provision of housing and infrastructure replacement almost entirely in the hands of private entities while its effective implementation was subject to cross-sectoral coordination at regional level.
